Violence shatters a woman\u2019s identity and makes her lose sight of herself and of her unique resources. The toxic relationships<\/strong> and power dynamics<\/strong> underlying the phenomenon of domestic violence undermine a woman\u2019s self-esteem and self-determination, and they do it silently, sneakily as they are often very difficult to identify<\/strong>, especially for those who experience them from within. Yet, being able to spot them represents the first, necessary step to break the cycle of violence<\/strong>, rebuild self-esteem<\/strong> and create a personal life plan for the future<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On April 19 and 20, the Mariposa<\/em><\/strong>project officially kicked off. The project, which envisions the collaboration of CESIE and organizations from five other EU countries, intends to provide new tools that can help survivors of domestic and sexual violence<\/strong> to identify the unhealthy dynamics in which they are involved and overcome them, while avoiding the risk of poverty and social exclusion<\/strong>, which represent additional vulnerability factors and increase the risk of future abuse.  These tools<\/strong> will also support survivors in identifying the specialized support<\/strong> they need and in reprogramming their life according to their wishes and objectives; they will not aim at replacing professional support in shelters and specialized centers, on the other hand they will be complementary and may be used by professionals working with survivors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, the project consortium will involve civil society actors and anyone interested or willing to support survivors in the creation of support networks<\/strong> and the development of campaigns to raise awareness<\/strong> on domestic violence and contribute to its prevention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project is co-funded by the Erasmus + Programme, <\/strong>Key Action 2 – Cooperation partnerships in Adult education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
