Lesson 1: Support yourself in case of emergency

Introduction:

The goal of this self-help coaching lesson is to think through your personal opportunities and steps to do in case of emergency. This process needs you feeling actually safe – for assessing your safety, we provide you a safety barometer at the beginning of the lesson.

Before starting to work, assure that you have

  • enough time: at least 30-50 minutes of undisturbed time
  • enough and safe space to work without interruptions and being disturbed in your process
  • you can use this planning tool alone or if you have a person of confidence, you can also invite others to do it with you.

Objectives:

To help you to assess your personal feelings of safety

To help you to create an “emergency kit”

Lesson 2: Coping with your feelings and emotions

Introduction:

The goal of this self-help coaching lesson is to help to recognize, understand and cope with the various feelings and emotions that occur during hard situations in life.

Before starting to work, assure that you have:

  • enough time: at least 45-50 minutes of undisturbed time for each exercise
  • enough and safe space to work without interruptions and being disturbed in your process
  • you can use this planning tool alone or if you have a person of confidence, you can also invite others to do it with you.

Objectives:

To help you to assess your personal feeling

To learn more about feelings and emotions and possible coping methods

To help you to create your own “coping guide” of actions to do in hard situations

Lesson 3: Coping and self-nurturing with creation

Introduction:

The goal of this self-help coaching lesson is to support you with the power of creating art, to cope with heavy feelings, as well as understand your situations and the occurring feelings better.

For this exercise, you will need a place to make art – a larger table, or enough space on the ground, as it fits to you. You also should choose the tools you enjoy using: colourful pencils, markers, painting, pictures from magazines, photos, glue, or duct tape. You will also need a larger and stronger paper for the art itself.

Before starting to work, assure that you have:

  • enough and safe space to work without interruptions and being disturbed in your process

Lesson 4: Creating your internal order

Introduction:

The goal of this self-help coaching lesson is to help to think through different elements of your life, and to create and “internal order” of things. We invite you to work with the help of a popular fairy tale “Mother Holle” for this purpose, and follow the steps of the nice stepdaughter to reach the goal of getting a “gold bath” of Mother Holle. Working on ourselves through a story is an exciting task, but it is not at all straightforward. In a fairy tale, order is restored by the end, the hero of the tale takes a general journey and moves into a next stage of self-development.

This is our task too – to interpret the turns and ‘codes’ of the fairy tale for our own lives, to find the steps that will help us to become a golden daughter instead of a dirty one.
